Troubleshooting

Indexed by what you notice, not by what the subsystem is called — because when something is wrong you know there's no sound, not that it's a routing problem.

7 of the 8 problems below are not faults. They are documented behaviour that looks like a fault, and they are marked working as designed. “Your unit is fine” is a useful answer and nobody publishes it.

FLUX doesn't seem to do anything

No parameter is assigned to it

Working as designed

Press and hold the parameter knob you want FLUX to move. Until something is assigned, the switch has nothing to control.

I can't find the effect I want

You are scrolling within one category

Working as designed

Press and turn the EFFECT knob to jump categories, rather than turning it and stepping through one list.

HX Edit won't see my HX One

There is no editor for this device

Working as designed

USB carries firmware updates through Line 6 Central only. Everything else is edited on the pedal.

I lost stereo after wiring the loop

The four-cable method uses both jack pairs

Working as designed

IN RIGHT and OUT RIGHT become the loop return and send. You get the loop or stereo, not both.

A parameter I expect isn't there

Three knobs cannot show a whole effect

Working as designed

Press ⟨ PAGE ⟩ — most effects have more parameters one page across.

It sounds thin, fizzy or harsh through my speakers

Two settings cause nearly all of this, and neither is a tone control. Check them in this order before you touch an EQ.

The output level does not match what you plugged into

Instrument level into a mixer, or line level into the front of an amp, sounds wrong in a way that is easy to mistake for a bad amp model. One menu, thirty seconds.

The cab block is in the wrong state

Cab on into anything full-range; cab off into anything that ends in a real guitar speaker. A cab into a real cab is two speakers stacked, and no cab into a PA is an amp with no speaker at all.

My delay or reverb cuts off the instant I bypass it

Not the same problem as tails cutting off at a preset change, and it has a different answer — this one is a setting inside the block.

That block's Trails setting is Off

Working as designed

Trails Off mutes repeats and decays the moment the block is bypassed. Trails On lets them ring out naturally, through a bypass and through a snapshot change. It is set per block, so one delay left wrong is enough to make a whole rig feel abrupt.
